Utah has been home away from home for the last 14 yrs. The halau has grown into a place of reference for it's students. The halau in partnership with local organizations within the Hawaiian Community in Utah, offers our students as well as the general public a means of staying connected to their roots.

The halau offers it's students a place to reconnect 
totheir past so they can face the future with charater and strength.

About Kumu Pomaika'i Gaui

Kumu Pomaika'i resides in West Valley City, UT along with wife, Kehaulani and children and grandchildren. Hula is a big part of his life and is willing to share with all that comes through the halau.  He is also a very active in the Hawaiian community in Utah, holding various different positions such as: Board member, PIAC - Pacific Islander Advisory Council, for than Governor John Huntsman, Jr., Past President/BOD, Hui Hawai'i o Utah Hawaiian Civic Club, Board member, So. Salt Lake Community Council.



Kumu Pomaika'i has studied hula with the late Darryl Lupenui, early '70's. Ali'i Manu o Kai, Kaulana Kasprovitch. He has informally taking hula with other kumu hula thru Workshops, Keiki Hula Camps, Hawaiian Civic Clubs, Kamehameha Continuing Education etc....
With the influence of a dear friend, Marty Laua'e Adam, began dancing and later traning with Palani Kahala and the Gentlemen of Maluikeao.
